Throughout the questioning the police referred to the land which the settlers had tried to seize as "Mr. Amery's farm" (the Palestinian owners of the land have not been able to go back to the land since Wednesday). Both Colin and Satoshi were given statements to sign in Hebrew, which they refused to sign until they met David Niri (the Israeli activist who was assaulted on Saturday) who read the statements through for them.

From David they learned that Victor Amery was now in jail for the assaults.

At 5 pm, the police station closed and Colin and Satoshi asked who was going to drive them back to the Yanoon checkpoint. They were told that no arrangements had been made to take them home because no transport was available.

Fortunately, David Niri, had a car and was able to take them to the IWPS office near Arael Settlement.

Victor Amery and his followers have been waging campaign of terror and land seizures against the Palestinian communities around Itamar for several years but this is the first time he has been jailed. Despite the seriousness of the assaults and the number of witnesses, it is by no means certain that he will receive a prison sentence. Settlers throughout the Occupied Territories are habitually seizing land and assaulting Palestinians with the tacit support of the occupying army. Mr. Amery is also known to have strong ties with several prominent Israeli politicians and friends in the Sharon cabinet.
