Update on Yanoon - Victor Amery is in Jail
Victor Amery, the leader of the Itamar Settlement, whose followers kidnapped and assaulted 2 ISM activists on Wednesday while trying to seize a Palestinian farm and who broke the nose of an Israel peace activist on Saturday, is currently in jail.
On Saturday Colin and Satoshi (the activists who were captured by Mr. Amery's followers on Wednesday) were summoned to the Arael Settlement police station to give statements concerning the assaults. They traveled from Yanoon to the checkpoint where the police had agreed to pick them up but were kept waiting for 2 hours before being taken to the station at 1.30 pm.
From the start it was clear to them that the main priority of the police was to help Mr. Amery get acquitted. Both Colin and Satoshi were asked to identify Mr. Amery from hundreds of mug shots. They thought a couple might have been him from a few years ago, before he grew his fluffy settler beard but could not be sure. They were sure that none of the photos shown to them were recent photographs of him.
