The U.S. State department has recently released a: Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act of 2000: Trafficking in Persons Report http://www.state.gov/g/tip/rls/tiprpt/2002
In May, there was the UN General Assembly Special Session on Children (UNGASS), called the “Children’s Forum”, which was attended by current world leaders and chidren. The event can best be summarised by U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan’s opening remarks to the children and by Amnesty international’s reaction at the end of the “Children’s Forum.
Kofi Annan told the children that they have the right to education, health, a clean environment, and to live without the shadow of war, poverty, abuse or exploitation.
"These rights are obvious. Yet we, the grown-ups, have failed you deplorably in upholding many of them.
"We the grown-ups must reverse this list of failures. And we are pledged to do so."
