These mobilisation efforts have finally succeeded in getting the better of some of the repressive governments. Although the actual impact of such initiatives is difficult to assess, Burmese journalist Myo Myint Nyein who was the subject of public awareness campaigns led by French and Belgian sponsors, was released two years before completing his sentence-a sure sign that nothing is inevitable.

ÉDOUARD BOUBAT FOR PRESS FREEDOM
Last Thursday, 14 November, on Sponsorship Day, Reporters without Borders released a new photo album, Édouard Boubat for Press Freedom. The per-issue sale price of this publication will be 6 euros and the proceeds will benefit the 110 journalists who are now behind bars in 22 countries.

After Sebastião Salgado, Raymond Depardon, Marc Riboud, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Doisneau, Willy Ronis, William Klein et Yann Arthus-Bertrand, Édouard Boubat's son, Bernard Boubat, has elected to contribute 80 photographs taken by his father to the organisation whose mission is to defend freedom of information.

This collection, prefaced by writer Christian Bobin, provides yet another opportunity for Reporters without Borders to make the general public aware of the importance of their commitment to freedom of information and for the organisation to achieve financial independence from institutional lenders.
