Triodos Bank has teamed up with the some of the UK’s most influential charities to launch an innovative savings account directly connecting people in the UK with the causes they care about most. The Charity Saver is launched at an event in London today, which also marks the start of a major new consumer campaign challenging UK consumers to Take Control of their finances.
Charity Savers can save for the future while giving to the present. Because the Charity Saver includes the option of targeting any proportion of a savers’ interest to a specified charity. For some charities this presents a significant opportunity: By encouraging their supporters to open a Charity Saver and by asking them to donate a proportion of their interest, UK charities stand to generate significant additional funds.
According to Matthijs Bierman, Deputy Managing Director at Triodos Bank, this is an important development for charities and savers alike. “The Charity Saver rewards savers with healthy interest and a unique social return. And, if you care about a particular cause, you can directly contribute to its success. Not only will the charity benefit, but so will you. You pick the proportion of interest you want to pay and we’ll make sure it reaches the charity you support.”
