"When we first arrived, the animals were extremely traumatized as much of the main fighting took place in the immediate vicinity of the zoo."
"On Sunday we rescued a six-year-old bear with a huge abscess and bleeding ulcers on the pads of her feet."
"We've shipped in THREE TONS of food, plus medical equipment such as drip feed kits, suture kits, and antibiotics. This is a very old zoo, so we're doing what we can to expand the enclosures and improve living conditions."
"...it's an ever-growing list of victims including lions, tigers, brown bears, wolves, foxes, jackals, camels, ostrich, badgers and some primates."
"..."Mandor" the tiger is recovering from his ordeal. We're working with the 40th Engineering Division to expand his enclosure."
"IFAW is working closely with the South African group Thula Thula and the AZA to improve conditions for the animals. We're working as fast as we can to make their lives a little bit better."
This is dangerous, difficult work, but IFAW's Emergency Relief team is willing to accept the risk to help the animals and people in their time of need. All WE need are the funds to make it happen. Just think ... YOUR donation could make a tremendous difference for so many animals in the war zone.
