Some of the children have taken to sniffing glue in order to get high and escape their troubles, unaware of the serious damage they’re doing to their still-growing bodies.

Fahtin, an intelligent 13 year old girl, carries a bottle of pills around with her, which she claims are for treating the flu.
Fahtin is stunningly beautiful in spite of her ragged clothes and disheveled appearance. She stands up to the world with an emnity that’s depressing to see in such a young child. But with a kind word, her anger quickly disappears, and she eagerly shares her sad story.
“I’m from Kirkuk,” Fahtin said, and continued, “I came to Baghdad with my sister to work as a prostitute, but I left her and escaped because she took all the money and never gave me anything... I met these guys after a while, and I live with them in the street.”
