Iraq was soundly defeated in the Gulf War and the combination of 12 years of sanctions and U.S./U.K. bombings have reduced the nation to a near helpless position. Even now, it will take years for Iraq to recover.

Saddam Hussein is no threat to world peace – but George W. Bush threatens war to “protect” us from Saddam Hussein.

The United States holds the world’s largest arsenal of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons and Israel holds the largest WMD arsenal in the Middle East. No nation would dare to attack either the United States or Israel!

Of course, there are individual lunatics and groups of lunatics who might commit terrorist acts against the United States and Israel.

War will not prevent this. In fact, it will cause an increase in terrorist acts by individuals seeking retaliation. War cannot prevent terrorism. War is the ultimate terrorist act.

International treaties based upon ethical laws – such as the Geneva Conventions - can end the scourge of WMD. The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the proposed Organisation for the Prohibition of Biological Weapons (OPBW) are essential.

That is the reason for Saturday’s marches - to allow the United Nations Inspectors to complete their work and to restore Internatioal Law.
