Bush Hints at Resignation

Speaking at a Special Summit of the Americas in Monterrey, Mexico, (1), U.S. President G.W. Bush declared, "Dictatorships have no place in the Americas." (2)

With the U.S. Presidential “election” less than 10 months away, the announcement came as a surprise to delegates and others in attendance. One economic analyst pointed out that:

“I certainly hope he’s not serious. This would change all our projections. To begin with, the entire global security system will have to be re-examined. The U.S. has been in the forefront of the ‘War on Terrorism’ and if Bush resigns, shares in corporations producing surveillance systems and torture equipment will plummet.

“The world economic, social and political order will probably normalise and – more importantly – as Bush allies, we’ll be out of work. It would be a corporate disaster !”

The full impact of President Bush’s statement has yet to reach Wall Street and other financial centers but knowledgeable insiders have already begun considering divesting themselves of shares in Bechtel Group Inc., Fluor Corp., Halliburton Co. subsidiary Kellogg, Brown & Root, Louis Berger Group Inc., Parsons Corp. and Washington Group International Inc., once “sure bets” in the ongoing destruction/reconstruction of Iraq. (3)

Afghani officials have refused to comment, as have the CDA in Iraq, but an Israeli spokesperson said: “This will change none of our policies. We have a mandate that supercedes Pat Robertson.”

Pat Robertson is the millionaire American businessman, head of the 700 Club and leader of a large following who believe in what has been described as “Christian Capitalism” by those who understand the term.

Mr. Robertson has predicted G.W. Bush gaining “re-election” in 2004 which can be interpreted as reappointment, following his original assumption of the Presidency. (4)

We await confirmation from the White House as to whether President Bush has indulged in a momentary aberration by telling the truth or if his announcement was merely another grammatical error.

A White House insider who necessarily wishes to remain anonymous, told the “U.N. OBSERVER” that “President Bush would never intimidate his reservation.” (sic.)

"The US government should accept that the time of cowardly governments on this continent, subordinated to the dictates of Washington is coming to an end… The US does not want to acknowledge that the true cause of the fall of governments such as Sanchez de Losada's [in Bolivia], has to do with the poverty and misery generated by neoliberal policies imposed by imperialist economic models. That’s the real cause of instability in this continent."
