The Israeli soldiers looked uncomfortable, being confronted with about 20 Europeans and Americans. They asked us what we wanted. We told them that we wanted to go back to the hospital, but we were told it was too dangerous.

Eventually three of us were allowed to go back to Gaza hospital with a laissez-passer in Arabic and Hebrew. One of my colleagues who went back, Dr. David Gray, still has this laissez-passer. He told me, that he is prepared to give testimony. He, Dr. Egon and Philip, the British nurse was dropped by an Israeli officer at the Sports Stadium. He refused to go into the camp.

While we were in the Israeli forward command posts one Norwegian nurse was threatened and intimidated by one of the Phalangists. It took an Israeli order for him to back off.

The rest of us were driven by trucks northwards and dropped in front of the American Embassy in Ras Beirut.

I was deeply shocked when - as Saturday passed - the extent of the massacre became apparent.
