3 Korean A-bomb Survivors to Visit Hiroshima for Treatment

SEOUL — Three South Korean survivors of the U.S. 1945 atomic bombing of Hiroshima will visit the city in mid-December to undergo medical treatment, city officials said Wednesday.

The three, who are women in their 70s residing in Seoul, will be the first victims visiting the city for treatments after it recently approved a plan to cover their travel and accommodation expenses in line with a state program to support overseas atom bombing victims.

Nagasaki, the other city attacked by the United States with an atomic bomb, has already provided such expenses to victims in South Korea and in the U.S.

The three women from Seoul are expected to be admitted to a hospital in Hiroshima, according to the officials. (Kyodo News)
