U.S. - Iraq: WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT IT?

Article image This is a frequent question. Most say they know what they are doing is not working. Here is something that will work and takes little time. It is not dangerous or illegal, but it requires courage. Are you up to it?
An alternative to calling your congressman could be to organize a Sunday morning Prayer Rally For Peace outside a church.

Your rally should consist of two or more people, dressed to attend church, walking slowly on the public sidewalk outside a church that has failed to stand for peace.

Any Southern Baptist church will do for a start because their hierarchy has already opted for war. You can hardly miss if you pick any large evangelical church, but you might want to call the office first and ask if the church has taken a position opposing the bombing of Iraq and the public funding of Israel’s carnage of the Palestinians.
If they have no position, that is the same as a pro-war position, for if they do not oppose war they are for war. Jesus left no option for neutrality when it comes to killing children.

Carry a large sign, simply phrased and easy to read, telling the attendees why you have chosen this church.

The signs might say something like "This Church Supports War" or "Jesus Requires Peace" or "Jesus Would Not Bomb Children" or "Support A Church That Supports Peace" or "Don’t Give for War."
