Israel Rafalovich: Sudanese Military Attacks Darfur

The United Nation High Commissioner for Human Rights has determined in a new report that the Sudanese army conducts attacks against civilians in Darfur and this despite a ceasefire agreement.

According to the report, the Sudanese security forces took part in attacks on villages in Darfur during 2007. The report also says that during the first quarter of 2007 theseattacks resulted in more than 100 dead.

Further says the report that, despite evidence gathered between January 2007 and March 2007,
the Sudanese government did not take action to prevent the attacks, keep its security forces and equipment under control or pursue the attackers or intervene in order to protect civilians in the Darfur province.
