Israel Rafalovich: E.U. Emergency Aid For Bolivia

The European Commission has decided to grant Bolivia one Million Euros in emergency aid in order to help people and communities affected by floods.

The heavy flooding has affected 350,000 people and eight of nine departments in Bolivia. The most affected department is Beni where out of a population of 430,000 people, 130,000 were hit.

In La Paz, the capital city, fourteen thousand are currently in shelters and the number of displaced is expected to rise in the next days.

In the north of Bolivia, the overflow of the rivers has reached the Pando department and relief agencies are experiencing difficulties in accessing remote areas because of the bad conditions on the ground.
