Israel Rafalovich: E.U. Increases Pressure On Iran

Brussels

The European Union has decided to increase the pressure against Iran's nuclear programme, after it refused to adhere to the United Nation's resolution to freeze it's nuclear programme.

The E.U. foreign ministers, during their meeting in Brussels, agreed to ban travel by Iranian's who are on the United Nation's black list and to prevent Iranian students from studying "proliferation-sensitive subjects" in European Universities.

In December 2006, the United Nations passed Resolution 1737 that asked Iran to suspend its uranium enrichment activities by February 21 and introduced a ban on the transfer of sensitive nuclear and missile technology to Iran.

The resolution also called for the freezing of financial assets of those who are part of Iran's nuclear programme.

Last week, the IAEA announced that Iran rejected the entry of 38 inspectors.
