Researchers Eligible for E.U. Funding, notes Israel Rafalovich

Brussels

Researchers in developing countries will be eligible to apply for funding by the European Union on the same terms as European researchers.

Priority subjects of research for developing countries include health, environment, transportation and agriculture in the 69 Billion Dollar budget of the Framework Programme (FP7) that run from January 1, 2007 until December 2013.

Over 300 proposals of intended participation in the FP7 came from South Africa alone.

The researchers from developing countries will be eligible for all funding, as long as they apply as part of a team that includes at least three European Union member states or European Union partner countries.

The programme will give priority to projects that are mutually beneficial to the EU and developing countries.
