17 September 2006: tens of thousands of people in more than 40 countries, displayed world-wide support for the Darfuri people on the 1st Global Day for Darfur.
However:
¤ Attacks and grave human rights violations on civilians continue.
¤ Cases of sexual violence against women and girls are on the increase
¤ Sexual violence is used to intimidate and humiliate, irrespective of the victims age. It is still being used as a weapon of war.
