Today, the President of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), Judge Rosalyn Higgins, told the United Nations General Assembly that the aim of the Court was “to increase further [its] throughput in the coming year”. “To this end, the Court has agreed for next year upon a very full schedule of hearings and deliberations, with more than one case being in progress at all times”, she noted.
President Higgins was addressing the representatives of the United Nations Member States meeting in New York on the occasion of the Court’s presentation of its Report for the period 1 August 2005 to 31 July 2006.
