The current situation in Gaza reveals the bankruptcy of both Israeli and Palestinian policies. It is time for both peoples to abandon their non-Middle Eastern perspectives, face the reality of their situation and return to their own traditional values.
The heresy of “Islamic Fundamentalism”, by its very nature denies the basic principles of Islam and the idea of Progress through Divine Guidance, based upon Revelation.
So also does Militant Zionism and its reliance upon superior military force.
So also does Israel’s heavy reliance upon a foreign power, the United States.
Where would modern Israel be if there were to be a change in policy in the United States?
What does this reliance on a foreign power entail?
Since the fall of the Ottoman Empire, the Middle East has been a political football for the Western Powers. Today’s reason is the oil wealth of the region and the question of its control.
What has this to do with Israel?
Figuratively speaking, Israel is an island in an Arab Sea. Were that sea to engulf Israel, no outside help would be sufficient; no wall would be high enough or strong enough to withstand the pressure; no nuclear, chemical or biological arsenal would be of use, for their use would be suicidal.
What then is the solution?
Scriptural History shows that when Ancient Israel was dependent upon a foreign power, its days were numbered. The greatest period was during the reign of King Solomon, outstanding for his diplomatic skills in making ALLIANCES with Israel’s immediate neighbors, while maintaining Israel’s own independence.
Palestinians are the immediate neighbors of Israelis. Next closest is the entire Arab world.
Following the example of the great King Solomon, whom Jews, Christians and Muslims alike revere, let all the peoples of the Middle East close ranks, form alliances and work together in the development of their own natural resources.
If Israel were to turn its military expertise towards sustainable development, in cooperation with its neighbors and if the current Palestinian Government were to focus its energies on the same goal, in cooperation with both Israel and the other Nation-States of the region, there would be no need for conflict.
If Jews, Christians and Muslims would heed their own Teachings, there would be Peace among them.
Then, perhaps, all nations would learn to walk the Path of Peace.
