Danish Cartoon Controversy

Article image “The most stringent protection of free speech would not protect a man in falsely shouting ‘Fire!’ in a theater and causing a panic.”

A Danish newspaper published some absurd cartoons that would offend anyone with any sense of decency – particularly Muslims, since the cartoons are inherently offensive to some basic Islamic tenets.

Nevertheless, a few other publications in Europe have reprinted some of the offensive cartoons, in the name of “Free Speech”.

Naturally, there has been a strong reaction throughout the Islamic World.
Unfortunately, many who are deeply offended have forgotten the principle of “Proportionality” and are committing violent reactions, which will only strengthen their enemies.

We hope that everyone will pause to consider that had these cartoons simply been ignored, as the trash they are, the situation would not be escalating.

Meanwhile, please continue for some reactions ...
