European Roma Information Office Issues Joint call to the EU Governments to reconsider the Situation of Kosovo Roma The 16 and 17 June mark the fifth anniversary of a campaign of arson attacks against Roma homes in the southern parts of Kosovska Mitrovica. Within a few days the whole Roma Mahala (quarter) of the city, once the largest Romani settlement in Kosovo, was destroyed and its 7000 inhabitants forcibly displaced. The same events were repeated elsewhere in Kosovo, including Pristina and Vucitrn.
